Good morning! The home tour continues today from our living room – a space I don’t spend much time in to be honest but where I am currently sitting with Mr Max and a large latte.
This room is FULL of natural light due to the large bay window which is lovely however doesn’t allow for much privacy especially as a bungalow in our neighbourhood where there are often people out and about. Another thing I love about about our neighbourhood.
Our previous main floor was laid out like this – an L shaped kitchen with an island in the centre that overlooked the dining room.
There was a wall on the other side of the the side door which created a division to the living room. The couch was placed in front of the bay window which hid so much of the light!
The walls were dark, the furniture was dark and it really didn’t feel warm and inviting – it needed a major refresh!
Here’s a progress picture! We opened up the entire space by removing the wall (exposing the beams!!) and relocating the dining room to extend our kitchen. Stay tuned for more on the kitchen coming soon!
We went back and forth on layout, furniture and window coverings so many times in this space! It truly was one of the most difficult rooms to design and decorate, and I am not sure why.
After buying and returning 3 couches, at least 6 rugs and 4 different chair styles, we finally landed on some items we both loved. The round coffee table for me was a must-have and I love how it works here.
We spend most of our time together in the family room downstairs but this is a great area to enjoy with guests or when one of us wants to watch something different then the other (like me and the bachelor!).
